We offer classes for Youth and Adults. 

 

Please note: We believe that ALL should be able to participate in our classes. If our fee is too much for you, we offer "pay-what-you-can" pricing. Write to Contact@esptheatre.org with the class name and what you can pay and we will get you registered!

Masks are optional for all classes. However, we follow the City, County, and State guidelines so that may change depending on guidelines.

YOUTH PROGRAMMING

ACTING FOR FUN! - Ages 7-9 - $120

Thursdays from 4:00 - 5:00 pm September 22 - November 17
Have fun using your imagination to create stories. Class will use theater exercises and games that build cooperative play and confidence.

 

DEVISED THEATER FOR TEENS - Ages 12-17 - $180 

TEEN-HOMESCHOOL ACTING CLASS

A class where teens work together to come up with characters and scenes using their experience in life. Join us in this fun and educational journey towards developing a performance piece which brings together the unique talents and creativity of the group.

DEVISED THEATER FOR TEENS - Ages 13-17 -$180

AFTER-SCHOOL CLASS

A class where teens work together to come up with characters and scenes using their experience in life. Join us in this fun and educational journey towards developing a performance piece which brings together the unique talents and creativity of the group. 

 

TEEN “SHORT SHAKES” 
Taught by R. Aaron Thompson $300

Ends with a fully staged shortened Shakespeare version of Midsummer Night’s Dream.
Sundays from 2 pm to 5 pm September 25 to November 20. (Added time tech week.) Combines physical theater, movement, and character development, as well as modern acting methods with a focus on Classical Shakespearean Language to provide young actors ages 14-18 with a class that ends with a shortened version of one of Shakespeare’s Classics. 
 

TEEN (YOUNGER/OLDER) SHAKES WEEKEND WORKSHOPS $85

TWO WORKSHOPS:
TEENS November 4, 5, 6 – Ages 14-18

TWEENS November 11, 12, 13 – Ages 11-14

Here Ye, Here Ye…

Friday (5pm-8pm) is an introduction to ESPtheatre's aesthetic and an opportunity for young actors to shift gears and focus on their work through a series of exercises involving voice, body and Shakespearean text work.
Saturday (2:15 pm-5:15 pm) focuses on scene and monologue work incorporating paraphrasing and discovering meaning along with the actor’s individual voice and experiences.
Sunday (1pm-4pm) moves more vigorously through the voice and body work, with the actors reconnecting with Shakespeare’s text, revisiting their monologues and exploring how the structure of the verse might influence character and performance.

ADULT PROGRAMMING

THE ACTORS' GYMNASIUM

Lead by Christine Mosere with special guest artists every third Monday of the month.

Ongoing – pay in 4 week installments $20 per class:
Monday evenings from 7:30 - 9:00 beginning September 19th

Recommended for actors with experience.

This Gymnasium is like going to the gym to build and maintain the “muscles and core strength” of acting while taking your work to a deeper and richer level. Develop a strong foundation and keep those chops up during your time off. Join us and return to the root of play with truthfulness and creativity supported by the text. Get rid of the hesitation and intellectualizing that prevents good actors from being GREAT!
 

IMPROV with MICHAEL HARRIS (all ages 18+-80) $175

Engage in Improv games and exercises designed to cultivate confidence and skills while having FUN! You'll find yourself silencing that voice in your head that asks, "what should I do next?" or says "you aren't good enough."

Engage in a safe space while building community!

Have fun while learning about (or reintroducing yourself to) theater! Good for the beginner to intermediate actors. The class uses theater exercises and scripts geared towards those over 55, you will gain confidence with no memorization required. CLASS ENDS WITH A PERFORMANCE ON 11/16

ADVANCED ACTING FOR SENIOR/RETIREES $200

Delve into more complex scene work and acting techniques
