Riotous Youth offers engaging theatre training for young performers ages 10–18 in Frederick, Maryland. Our students explore Shakespeare and classical theatre through ensemble work, text analysis, and performance training led by professional actors and educators. Each semester, participants build confidence, creativity, and connection while bringing timeless stories to life on stage.

Established as part of the education programming of The Maryland Shakespeare Festival, and with its roots in the training of Shakespeare & Company, Riotous Youth is now continuing its classical acting education at ESPtheatre.

Our Mission

Riotous Youth aims to give young people, ages 10 to 18, a safe environment in which to use the vehicle of classical text to foster self-discovery, self-expression, confidence, and ensemble.
